Sarajevo sunsets are unfairly good
The valley bowl catches light late; minarets and red roofs turn copper; hills silhouette against a sky that goes from gold to violet fast. These are the best sunset spots in Sarajevo — ranked by view quality, access, and how crowded they get in peak season.
1. Yellow Fortress (Žuta tabija)
The classic. Twenty-minute climb from Baščaršija, panoramic old town bowl, bench space if you arrive early. Summer: arrive 45 minutes before official sunset; bring water.
2. White Fortress (Bijela tabija)
Slightly wilder, fewer tourists, rougher path. Better if you hate tripods in your frame.
3. Trebević cable car summit
Mountain perspective instead of old-town intimacy. Check last car times — missing the descent is stressful.
4. Miljacka river near Vijećnica
Low angle: city hall reflected in water, no climb required. Great when legs are tired from walking tours.
5. Avaz Twist Tower bar
Elevator up, cocktail optional, 360° urban sprawl. Different aesthetic — modern Sarajevo at dusk.
More sights: best places. Quieter angles: hidden gems.
